We are delighted to announce that at last night’s PR Week Awards dinner, Portland won its category and was named PR Week’s 2012 Mid-Sized Consultancy of the Year.
The award is recognition of the work Portland delivers for clients – from blue-chip multinationals and high-profile individuals, to global foundations and national campaign organisations – and reflects the strength of advice and support we have been able to offer in 2012.
We have had quite a year. We celebrated our 10th anniversary, and have now grown to 90 staff across three global offices. We joined the Omnicom Group, significantly strengthening the scale and reach we can offer. Alastair Campbell, James O’Shaughnessy, and Jimmy Leach joined our team to provide strategic advice and counsel to our clients.
We are just as proud of our retention of staff. We continued our unbroken record with no member of staff leaving for a rival agency. In addition, more than 30 new clients joined us.
It was fantastic to hear the judging panel – made up of both leading agency figures, and communications and media directors from some of Britain’s largest companies – describe Portland as:
‘Thoughtful, measured. Collegiate and intelligent’
Commenting on the award, Tim Allan, Managing Director said:
“I would like to thank all of Portland’s staff for making the firm what it is today, and thank all of our clients for their business.
“Ultimately this accolade reflects the high-quality work clients trust us to deliver every day. We recognise that what clients value is not awards for us, but results for them, and that is what we remain committed to delivering.”

I am delighted to announce the launch of Portland’s specialist litigation communications practice.
Organisations and individuals can suffer significant reputational damage simply from being involved in a legal dispute.
At Portland, we specialise in helping clients manage the reputational impact of litigation and have now formally established a team devoted to this kind of work.
Idil Oyman leads this group. She has, for the past several years, advised on two of the largest civil disputes currently before the High Court.
Together, our team has extensive experience supporting high profile individuals and organisations in the financial, commodities, automotive, media and pharmaceutical sectors.
Portland brings together unrivalled media and political expertise, proven crisis management experience and important media and political contacts. Our team includes professionals from the communications war rooms of party politics in Westminster and Washington, as well as Downing Street, Whitehall, Fleet Street and corporate headquarters.
We know how to frame arguments and win.
We work closely with the legal teams to develop a strategy in line with legal aims and engage media, policy makers, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure an accurate and balanced public record.
Portland is based in London, with a team of 80 consultants. We regularly manage international projects through our New York and Nairobi offices which, along with partner agencies in the Omnicom group, give us truly global reach.
I invite you to learn more about our new offer by viewing our litigation communications brochure, describing the practice and highlighting some of our experience.
